This journal is dedicated to my daughter Claire. I plan to share my thoughts and feelings of raising my bratty, independant, stubborn, silly, ACTIVE, spoiled rotten kid who happens to have Down Syndrome. Though DS is a big part of our lives, it's not the only part of Claire. She is definitely not the stereotype of DS. I can not stand it when people say "Oh downs kids are so sweet and docile." First off.....you don't say downs kids. Would you call someone's child a cancer kid?? Secondly, Kids with DS are not all sweet, loveable, lumps of mush that just sit and smile. She has a definite defined attitude and personality.....like ALL kids.

She is my angel and my whole world, but I am not one of those mothers that is going to gush about how perfect she is....she isn't. She has a horrible mouth on her, she says NO way too much, gets away with way too much, and has more energy than any 10 kids I know.

I often hear "It must be so hard to have a child with DS." Maybe it is.....I don't know. All I know is Claire, I have nothing else to compare parenting her to. Don't think that her having DS has anything to do with the difficulties of raising her.....it's just Claire that's hard to raise LOL. I keep thinking that if I have another child, I'll have it made...since people seem to think raising typical kids is so easy *eye roll*.

Anyway, this journal will be friends only and really only people from my primary journal will be allowed.
